Spirit of Place & the Natural Environment

Claire Beausein is a contemporary Australian artist specialising in handmade paper and assemblage. Her work draws on her understanding and re-interpretation of the Australian environment, science and Eastern philosophies.

Claire has twenty-five solo exhibitions to her credit, both in Australia and overseas. In 2022 she was the overall winner of the Mandorla Award, a significant National Award. She has also won numerous WA awards and has been selected for National exhibitions, including: The Mandorla Award and the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize. Claire has been commissioned to produce large-scale works for major Perth Hotels including the Ritz Carlton, the Intercontinental and the Westin. Professional development includes residencies at the Paper Mill and Natural History Museum of Basel in Switzerland, Awagami Paper Factory in Japan along with workshops including woodcut, etching and Japanese arts to do with paper. Her work is held in important collections in both Australia and overseas.
